IMAXing in Georgia

      Looking for the premier movie going experience? Look no further, because Georgia has the second largest number of IMAX theaters in the Southeast. Seven IMAX theaters that are located in areas that provide a great dining and shopping experience.

Rankin M. Smith, Sr. IMAX Theater- Fernbank, 767 Clifton Road NE, Atlanta, Ga.  (404) 929-6400. Fernbank offers a unique Martinis & IMAX event every Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. In addition to a great flick, this event offers live music or a DJ, a full bar and snacks. Deborah Huffman,the manager of this venue says, “This IMAX theater location is often visited by schools and various summer camps as an educational tool for students.”

Regal Atlantic Station 16 and IMAX, 265 18th St. NW, Atlanta, Ga. Guests will catch a great flick on the big screen, shop at over 30 upscale shops, grab a bite to eat from one of the casual to fine dining restaurants and end the day in one of many great hotels in the area. All of this excitement is located within five city blocks, so there is no need to drive around to the various shops. “I live in Chattanooga and I come down here once a month to watch a movie on the jumbo screen and do some great shopping,” says avid shopper Lilly Montrose.


Regal Augusta Exchange Stadium 20 and IMAX, 1144 Agerton Lane, Augusta, Ga. (706) 667-6653.  The location offers great movies and great shopping at over 140 stores in Augusta Mall. Augusta offers over 300 restaurants.

Mall of Georgia Stadium 20 and IMAX, 3333 Buford Dr, Suite 3000, Buford, Ga. (678) 482-5858.  Along with the IMAX experience, this location offers shopping at over 225 stores in one general area. 

IMAX Theatre at Patriot Park, 3800 South Lumpkin Road, Columbus, Ga. (706) 685-5800.  Great movies, great shopping at five different shopping centers all located within 10 miles.

AMC Barrett Commons 24, 2600 Cobb Place Lane NW, Kennesaw, Ga. (770) 421-0423. Enjoy an IMAX movie then off to one of eight area shopping plaza to include Cobb Place Shopping Center featuring over 200 stores.

AMC Southlake Pavilion 24, 7065 Mount Zion Circle, Morrow, Ga. (770) 473-0719. This location features a great IMAX experience and great area shopping. Southlake Mall located less than two miles away and Tanger Outlets featuring over 30 shops is only 20 miles away. “I enjoy working here at Polo, we get people from all over the country visiting and you get to here their story,” says John Mikal of the Polo store in Tanger Outlets.
